This Chrome Plated Compression Full Bore Isolation Valve can be used in the moment stop the supply of water from a fitting to enable repairs, such as changing a tap, to be carried out without needing to turn off the mains. 

The activation for the valve is a simple quarter turn with a screwdriver.
